Lisa & Rob

Lisa and Rob came to me wanting a portrait session to celebrate their 1 year marriage anniversary.  I knew this was going to be such a fun shoot from the moment we started the planning.  Lisa was so eager and willing to help hash everything out; from color palettes, to location ideas, to the overall mood of the pictures.  In getting to know their story, Lisa told me (just off the cuff) that they had their first kiss at the canals down on Venice Beach.  We both came to the simultaneous realization that we had to shoot where it all started.  And so it was set.  And already were on the same wavelength on where these pictures were going!

Come the day of the shoot, I have to say, I've never seen people so comfortable in front of the camera!  They were so relaxed and disarmed, they really allowed me to capture the best they had to offer.  And they had a lot to offer!  Both of them were able to deliver striking, thought-provoking glances and then at the drop of a hat, Rob would whisper something in Lisa's ear and they would both break out into a genuine belly laugh!  As a photographer, it was a true joy to be able to be kept on my toes and anticipating the next moment.

Lisa and Rob have been married for a year now, but after spending the evening with them, it's abundantly clear that they are still engulfed in the honeymoon stage!  The joy and passion they get from just being around each other was infectious.  I would catch myself smiling behind the camera just because they were smiling.  The joy is wonderful to see, but the love they have for each other is abundantly obvious to feel.  At one point during the shoot, I had to actually stop them from kissing so that I could get a picture or two of them looking my way!  That lasted maybe 5 minutes before at least one of them had to be kissing the forehead or cheek of the other...which ended up being an absolutely adorable picture.

It was an absolute pleasure to work with Lisa and Rob.  They were a joy to work with but even more of a joy to get to know.  Thank you so much Lisa and Rob for allowing me to share in your anniversary celebration.  Relish in that honeymoon stage!  Cheers...
